One hour sessions are held at the Marshalswick Community Centre, the Ridgeway, St Albans. The cost is £6 per session. Tai Chi, which originated in China as a martial art, is a mind-body practice. Tai Chi is sometimes referred to as ‘moving meditation’ – practitioners move their bodies slowly, gently, and with awareness, while breathing deeply. Tai Chi can help reduce stress and anxiety, and it also helps increase flexibility and balance. The exercises are all completed standing up but are adaptable to each person’s ability. Many of the moves can be completed in a chair for all or part of the session, to suit anyone with less mobility or poor balance.
